Just like everything else in life, the best way to get a great portrait of your kiddo is to be prepared.
What to do the Night Before Picture Day!
The best photos start the day before picture day.
Have your child’s outfit clean and ready the night before. Nothing deregulates a child like being rushed for school before drop off. I always recommend washing and combing their hair the night before as well.
If you are really serious about picture day and are planning on breaking out a curling iron, I think styling the hair the night before is better because you can do little touch ups in the morning and it won’t take as long.

A day in nature
The word nature is borrowed from the Old French nature and is derived from the Latin word natura, or “essential qualities, innate disposition”, and in ancient times, literally meant “birth”.
